Rescuing homeless and unwanted animals in the worst areas of NYC
Adopting a cat is a lifelong responsibility. Before submitting an application, we ask that you be ready for a commitment of 15-20 years, as well as the financial responsibility of caring for your furry friend for years to come. Re-homing can be a very traumatic experience for cats, and when we adopt our cats out, we strive to place them in their forever home. Before filling out an application, please speak with all members in your household to ensure they are on-board with your decision!
Are you ready to make the commitment and are interested in adopting or fostering one of our rescues? Help NYCARG save lives by opening your home to one of our furry friends in need! When you adopt from NYCARG, you can rest assured that each of our rescues are fully-vetted (spayed/neutered, vaccinated, FIV/FeLV tested, microchipped, dewormed, de-fleaed and treated for any other medical condition).
Everyone loves a kitten, but please note that NYCARG requires kittens under the age of 6 months to be either adopted in pairs, or to a home with another young cat or kitten. Kittens separated from other cats too early often develop behavioral issues, known as "single kitten syndrome." When raised with other young kittens and cats and then adopted into a home by themselves, kittens can become aggressive, anxious, stressed, and even develop behavioral issues like inappropriate chewing/scratching and inappropriately using the litterbox. If you are not prepared for the responsibility of two kittens, please consider adopting one of our young adults, mature adults or seniors.
Additionally, like any good rescue organization, NYCARG does not separate bonded pairs - including bonded adults.
Please note the below list of our adoptable cats is ever-changing. To view our most up-to-date database of adoptable pets, visit our Petfinder page here. Email us at email@example.com to learn more about fostering and adoption, and to fill out an application! Please note that NYCARG is a foster-based rescue organization, so all of our cats and kittens are shown by appointment only.
